Ask ten people who have spent a summer in Mykonos to name the best beach club on the island and you will hear ten different answers, usually delivered with total conviction. That is because the best beach clubs in Mykonos are not competing for the same crowd. Some want you dancing on a chair by four in the afternoon, others would prefer you stretched out with a book and a plate of grilled octopus. The smart move is to decide what kind of day you want first and only then pick the beach.
Here is how the island splits, beach by beach and mood by mood. Learn where to discover the best beach clubs in Mykonos.
When you want to be seen
Psarou beach is a small, sheltered bay on the south coast and the address most people picture when they think of a glamorous Mykonos beach day. Yachts drop anchor offshore, lunch tends to stretch into the evening, and the people watching is half the entertainment. It is also the priciest stretch of sand on the island. Front-row beds sell out weeks ahead in July and August, and food and drinks are usually charged on top of the sunbed itself.
A short drive west, Paraga Beach holds two very different heavyweights side by side. One sits on a small headland with driftwood furniture, cactus gardens and a loyal following built around its sunset sessions, when melodic house slowly takes over as the sky turns orange. Its neighbour goes bigger, with a huge seawater pool, cabanas and DJs that keep the energy up from midday onward. If the first feels like a design magazine, the second feels like the party the magazine was invited to.
When you came to dance
Paradise and Super Paradise are where Mykonos earned its reputation, and they still deliver. At Paradise, the music usually picks up around half past four, when the DJ turns up the volume and the sunbeds quietly turn into a dance floor. The crowd is young and international, and this is one of the few party beaches where you can sometimes walk in without a booking, at least early or late in the season.
Super Paradise has had a beach club since 1971, which makes it a veteran by any island standard. The bay is deep and curved, the mornings are surprisingly calm, and the music builds through the afternoon. The beach is also known for its LGBTQ+ friendly scene, with a poolside club where drag shows start as the sun goes down and the crowd is one of the most cheerful on the island.
When you want long lunches and quiet water
Not every Mykonos beach club needs a bass line. Kalo Livadi, on the southeast coast, is a long sandy bay with shallow water and a slower pace. The clubs here lean toward good Mediterranean food and relaxed bed service, which works just as well for couples as for families with small children who will spend three hours building the same sandcastle.
The north coast feels like a different island altogether. At Panormos, a sheltered bay with a quiet free beach next door, you will find whitewashed lounges where lunch drifts into DJ sets and nobody seems to be in a hurry. Further east, Ftelia Bay has a more bohemian, barefoot feel, with fresh seafood and music that leans toward downtempo as the light softens. Ftelia is also where the meltemi wind blows hardest, so expect windsurfers and kites on the horizon and slightly cooler air than in the south.
A few things to know before you book
Prices vary wildly. At the more relaxed clubs, a pair of back-row sunbeds can cost a few dozen euros, while front-row beds at the most famous venues run into the hundreds. Many places also add a minimum spend on food and drinks, which is charged separately from the bed. Ask about both before you confirm, so the bill at the end of the day holds no surprises.
Book early for July and August weekends, especially for sunset sessions and big DJ nights, which are usually announced on social media in spring. Early June and September are a different story, with easier reservations, softer prices and water that is still warm enough to keep you in it for hours.
Transport matters too. The water taxis that run from Platis Gialos and Ornos are the easiest way to reach the southern party beaches without fighting for parking, but the last boats leave in the early evening. If you plan to stay for the sunset, line up a taxi or a ride back in advance.
Your perfect Mykonos day starts with one question
Do you want the yacht view, the dance floor or the long, lazy lunch? Answer that honestly and the choice of beach club almost makes itself. And if you cannot decide, Mykonos is small enough to try a different bay every day of the week. That is not indecision. It is research.
